Please read this if you have any experience, I don't even know where to look to try and figure this out on my own, I mean it sounds like it'd be something very easy to setup with someone who had experience, but Im not that guy. I could perhaps set up compensation for anyone willing to help. TY in advance.

Ok so I am compleltley inexperienced, I need to know where to begin.

Every morning I need to fill out a US Dot log sheet documenting any issues with the trucks I will be driving that day.

So does every driver that works with me. My idea...

Create/Find a program or macro that will auto fill and date a sheet and print it aitomaticcally everymorning. Basically we come into the office every morning and have all the forms we need sitting in the printer tray and all we have to do is sign, and verify all the informtion is correct (The only time we need to check off a tick box or comment is if soemthing is broken/missing)

This is the sheet:

Ok so, after being copied a million times it is obviously a crap copy, retarded drivers and office workers can't figure out how to put a piece of paper in a scanner properly so everything is fluffeyed, Im working on fixing that now.

So what I want it to do.
I want it to automatically print a sheet for every driver working on any given day(easy our crew is always on 24/7, with exception to days we take off when we want)

So this program/macro should fill in the date(every day it owuld be the current day)

A sheet should be printed for every truck, whether its driven that day or not.

400 402 404 406 408
401 403 405 407 409

Certain trucks, the driver will never change. 401(RA),403(PI),404(MK), 405(FR), 407(JS), 409(RK), these are our light duty wreckers, and flatbeds.

400(Service truck), 403(4x4 wrecker), 406(Heavy wrecker), 408(heavy wrecker) These trucks don't have dedicated drivers so when it prints forms for these trucks the driver section should be left blank. These don't even need to be printed daily, these would onlyneed to be printed on days the truck gets driven.

We have more trucks but we only need to worry about our Police contracted vehicles.

Ok so now, every day it should print out the sheet, auto assigning a truck number, with the drivers name, and todays date in any pertinent spots.

That is all the automation, now I would need a manual selector, so I can go in and print retro dates, either in bulk or individually. Also so I could go in and select a truck, and a driver and print out a form for him to sign.

sounds like some sort of an excel or word mail-merge sort of thing would fit the bill pretty nicely.

I suggested using MS Word form fill, or make a PDF document with form fields to do the same thing.

Word has macro thingies in it that allows you to insert fields that always prints today's date, for example.

Then setup a daily cron job or something.

^ That's where I was going with it as well.

Also, set up the document so that its the same page however many times you need for each vehicle; type that vehicle's number and driver or whatever and you're good to go.

Schedule print whenever you want it to print.

i'd probably do it with an Access database.
