It is starting to be quite competitive, it has a large enough player base that the markets function properly and most importantly it has introduced a special kind of GDI (like the one found on express) that protects members from special attacks (harmful spyops/missiles/GS/AB/BR) from countries they have not grabbed 2 times or more.

This is incredible suicide protection and makes the game quite fun to play. Basically, if you limit yourself to one attack per country you can be guaranteed a safe finish! Don't worry though the troop/tank markets are still quite healthy b/c some players

A) take risks to hit some players more than once
B) take risks to just not join GDI
C) are looking to play primary to find an opponent to just duke it out with
or
D) country A on 10k acres hits country B on 30k acres. If B wants to regain his land in retals he will have to hit A more than once, opening himself up to special attacks from A. This puts B in a tough spot...
E) other things I'm forgetting!

Oh and congrats to bakku who won primary this past set with over 150M NW...ridiculousness. Also jedioda and afaik have now placed top 6 for 6 straight resets props to them as well!

I have never played it

From what I can tell there are people playing there that I don't think play on alliance or FFA.

I usually add to the numbers by playing a country for 100 turns :P
