I had an interview for a job earlier and the panel asked me this. First, my answer was both and then they asked me to choose just one and I answered back - Timeliness.

if you were me, what answer would you choose and why? (beauty pageant)

it's not on time if it isn't accurate.

just out of curiousity, how many people were in the panel?
will they give accurate timely votes to employ you?
did you have to wear a suit and tie to the interview?

i probably wouldn't have made it to the question, let alone attempt to give an answer. you want me to do what? for free?

I would have talked about the trade-off between timeliness and accuracy but if I had to choose just one I would choose accuracy since an inaccurate product is of no value, no matter when you get it. You should have taken some time to think about it and give them the correct answer ;)

Depends on the type of job and the possible ramifications of the task. For me, as a tech analyst, the answer is always accuracy. For a sales job, the answer is probably timeliness.

Judging by the question I would have to assume accuracy is the better choice. If you give people wrong information they definitely wont work with you again. Give it late and they might.

Accuracy. If I am inaccurate, everything could break. I don't like things breaking.

Accuracy. I believe in the adage of do it right the first time. might take a bit longer, but that bit longer will surely be less time/cost than having to go and do it again because it doesn't work properly.

Timeliness. In waiting to make a decision as accurately as possible, you will frequently find that it's too late to make any decision at all. Better to be slightly wrong, but mostly win than to not have played the game at all.

Depends on the job, obviously.

For a lawyer, often, it will be timeliness.

Depends on the specific task. There's no right answer for this. They were trying to find out if your instinct is to cut corners if it means meeting a deadline or if you'd lean towards revisions and edits at the cost of time.

What was the interview for?

I was applying for a reports analyst. the panel was composed of 3 - a director, a manager, and a supervisor.

I guess I didn't make it.. they didn't call back. :(
