You’re a mediocre player. You don’t really know what you’re doing, you play a rainbow strategy, and you refuse to buy tech because it’s “too expensive.” Somehow, you still end up miles behind those netters who are regularly pumping out twice your networth.
So, naturally, you decide to grab a “juicy target.” Someone who has clearly done a much better job of grabbing than you have. And you think to yourself: “Hey, why shouldn’t I give it a try?”
But what happens?
You grab a small chunk of land. You get to enjoy it for somewhere between 1 and 12 hours, and then you lose it all again when your target retals you.
Congratulations! What exactly have you achieved?
You’ve spent turns. Your target has spent turns. You’ve both wasted resources, and neither of you has gained anything meaningful. The only thing you’ve successfully accomplished is turning two players’ time into a net negative.
And for what? A temporary land spike that lasts about as long as your confidence after getting retalled?
At this point, you’re not playing strategically. You’re just being a nuisance in an online game, desperately trying to compensate for the fact that other players understand the game better than you do.
Maybe next time, instead of grabbing a juicy target, try grabbing a calculator. You might finally discover why your networth is half theirs.
