The guy claims it was 200% l:l due to the hit being on a guy with over 150% the land of the offending country. However, that clause only applies to the CLOSED list, whilst this guy is on the OPEN list. Thus, we need to discuss this among FAs, and not just revert to de facto 200% land:land as stated in the Closed terms.

Furthermore, even if we accepted that interpretation (which we don't at the moment, but we should be friendly and discuss this), your guy clearly got 200% l:l in TWO hits, yet he took a 3rd!

As I see it, the defending country (#35) has turned in to the offending country by overretaling.

Thus, I'd like your go-ahead to take 1 retal on him (#35).

Landtrading deals are lame.

Not landtrading deals. They are pacts delineating the retalling boundaries. So stfu and gtfo.

Not as lame as endless butt-hurt wars over simple land grabs.

First 2 retals took him to 178% not over 200%.

To work it out in future you add his returns together, in this case they are;

1098+1143 which equals 2241

Then you divide the 2241 by the original hit which was 1259.

That gives you the answer!

I looked at our pact and I looked at the countries on the open list for both alliances.
Both countries are on the open list, so 200% land:land does NOT apply in this case.
this is the term that applies:
80% L:L country:country retals (or 100% L:L if ghost acres don't make up the remaining 20%)

so expanding on KJ's awesome math summation (great basic math skills, btw!)
the first retal got all the land back as per the terms of the pact (87% of land regained, 124% including ghost. Both would end the retals after 1 hit.)

so, that makes "retals" 2 and 3 over-retals by the Evo country.

I just wanted to see what it felt like to be one of AT's math guys. I felt very intelligent.

well I wouldn't call what I'm doing FA, simply looking at the news and reading the terms of the pact with Evo (which are publicly visible to all PDM members :p)

but based on what TAN said and since I'm like 99.9% sure I know who owns that country, the country owner can contact me and I'll help facilitate something to make everyone happy.

scared of revealing that you do in fact give better deals to larger alliances who can't retal as much?:p
