Martian. the current eastern teams in 5th-15th are Florida, Ottawa, NYR, Carolina, Buffalo, Tampa, NJ, Winnipeg, Montreal, NYI, Boston

I can only see Toronto losing to Carolina or Buffalo if their goalies win the series. They should beat Florida, Ottawa, NYR, NJ, Winnipeg, NYI if they faced them. Tampa, Montreal, or Boston are the only ones who would give them a good match of the teams down there. I predict at least second round for them.

Except that it's the leafs. They will find a way.
Plus it's a long road between now and the playoffs. Hard to judge how good/bad many of those teams you listed will be come April.

no the leafs started last season 4-0, they won their 9th game last night, last season they didnt' win their 9th game until Dec. 6th.

They have a lot more depth than they have had in previous years.

I also predict a 2nd round playoff exit (and have been since before the season started).

It's because Toronto has brought itself back to 60% Canadian content with Canadian talent leading the team.

But they'll need to bring it up to 70% if they want a chance at winning the cup.
