I saw a driver today that made me really fluffing angry, about as angry as I've been at anyone on the road.

There's a road near my house, one lane each way. There's an ambulance coming the other direction, and the drivers on my side of the road stop, like they're supposed to. Some fluffing idiot driver going the other direction comes to a stop in front of the ambulance, rather than keeping going and pulling over where there's a shoulder. The drivers going my direction had to move out of the way, so the ambulance could go on our side of the road to pass this fluffing idiot. About 200 feet ahead of where the driver came to a stop, there was a shoulder, where the driver could have actually gotten out of the way. Where the driver did stop, there was literally no shoulder at all.

fluffing with an ambulance is bad. You can kill someone that way. How fluffing stupid do you have to be to stop in the middle of the road with an ambulance behind you?

Your right. People not respecting emergency vehicles really makes me mad too. If I was a cop I would try and follow every ambulance I could just to ticket as many of those fluffholes as possible.

i used to let the ambulance pass and get right on his ass to get ahead of the cars that stopped. almost got ticketed a few times

its generally because they panic. my mom does that all the time. she freezes like she doesnt know what to do.

wtf! pull as far to the right as you can. its that simple. As for following an ambulance, you are a fluffface. not only is that highly illegal, but you are ruining it for family members that try to follow the ambulance. my great aunt was pulled over while following her husbands ambulance to the hospital, he died before she could get there after the ticket. He was shot while working in the convenient store he owned.

a cop tried to pull me over when i was driving my mom following the ambulance that was taking my grandmother to the hospital after a heart attack. i refused to stop. i got a ticket once i arrived at the hospital, but the judge promptly threw it out.

thats kind of messed up that you would risk other people's lives driving like a maniac just to get to the hospital a few minutes quicker IMO...

no where did i say i was driving like an idiot. it is illegal to follow an ambulance as i was doing, and i was pulled for it.

mrford - driving behind an ambulance for any reason is certainly dangerous and can cause collisions and other fatalities. Drivers don't expect a vehicle following a passing emergency vehicle. The paramedics don't expect to see cars on their ass while driving to a hospital. What if the ambulance had had to run a red light or stop sign? Would you have also ran the red light or stop sign? In that case you had to decide what you wanted to ignore - the chance that you may not get to see your grandmother alive before reaching the hospital or the chance that your reckless driving led to at best a ticket and at worse a fatal collision. You made a choice. It was a difficult one and not one that I envy you for having to make, but nevertheless you made a choice. Don't try to pretend that your choice didn't increase the risk to other drivers on the road - including you and your mom.

it was probably a sixteen year old kid that froze up and got stupid when they saw the lights, besides - city folks just dont respect the flashing lights like us country boys.

i'm happy that i turned in my car and no longer have to pay the insurance tax required to keep them on the road.
