When FSU hits their stride, they're definitely very potent. Whatever senior TOM said to LH a few minutes into the 2nd quarter was sage advice or advice tendered at the right moment given the momentum in MD's favor entirely shifted.

I'm keeping my fingers cross against Temple. We lost to them in football this year so I feel like we're owed payback. It'll be my first trip to the Palestra (sp?) and it's an 11am tip on a Saturday, bah.

It will be interesting to see how NCAAT shakes out this year. I'm having a tough time evaluating long-run capability teams as things seem to have some more parity than usual.

MD only dropped 2 spots in the RPI (to 91) with a loss @FSU, mainly because FSU is a top 50 RPI team and road losses only count as .6 of a game.

Temple is #24 in the RPI and a road win by Maryland will get a 1.4 multiplier and shoot your SOS up majorly. My *GUESS* is if UMD wins this game they will go up to around ~72-75 in the RPI with the next game being Duke. Which is within striking distance of getting an at-large worthy RPI. If you somehow won both you'd be ranked at 14-5 IMO and the ACC would suddenly not look like such a shallow league (would have Duke/UNC/UVA/FSU/MD as good teams and NC State as a maybe)

Temple is also a road game, haha. And we're young. But I don't think it's outside the realm of possibility. I do like our long-term prospects.

MD only has one serious scoring threat. We aren't a tournament team lets not get carried away. That said I do think we will win next week home against Duke. The energy the fans bring to the Duke game seems to make it at least close every year. This year will be special b/c of the ceremony dedicating the court to Gary Williams and I think Maryland might actually win by 10+.

ugh, UNC gave me a scare during the first half of that VT game, but Barnes let it be known in the 2nd half, and Henson had 2 of SC's T10 plays, ill take it. sucks that its 7 days till the game against NCSU, but i await the day....

VT is the last place team in the ACC. UNC really needs to find the groove it was in last year in the regular season or they may not even finish 2nd in the ACC. These kinds of performances will lead to L's from Duke and Virginia at LEAST and could vs NCSU and MD also.

ACC Standings currently have Duke #1, UNC/FSU/NCSU tied at #2, Virginia #5 and BC/UMD tied for #6. Except for BC that's basically the teams that have a shot at an at large bid. They've already found their way to the top of the standings together 4 games in :P

The funny thing though is that if you look back in time the worse UNC does in conference the better everyone else does on selection Sunday. In this case NCSU and MD in particular are hoping UNC finishes 5th/6th because where UNC is if they dont finish 1/2 may be the cutoff like for the NCAAT :D

Crazy crazy week. Hoping we can keep it up as our next games are @Wake, GT, UVA, @BC, Miami, VT before @NCSU. There's a very real chance we could be 10-1 going in to @NCSU and we are currently in the ACC regular season drivers seat.

As for UConn I'm sure they want us to win out to help their resume at this point ;P

Also Mizzou will be good next year but you better hope you don't draw us in the NCAAT. Frank Haith has I believe a 1-13 career record vs Coach Hamilton. I'm betting money on him fizzling after Mike Anderson's players leave too. The dude really isn't a very good coach.

Yes, I thought the refs couldn't outdo Duke v MD, but they proved me wrong...again.

And wtf was up with Henson's dunk? What a douchey move. And for Williams to defend him in the press saying well we contested it? Yes, one Terp put his hands up while 4 stood at midcourt because the game was gone. The Terps won't forget that.

Henson has been a colossal D-Bag for some time. He's a major crybaby that throws a lot of tantrums on the court like slapping at the basketball during dead ball situations and crying at officials over every little thing. Then following up with cheap shots and bush league moves like his dunk at the end of the MD game. Just a bad attitude little spoiled brat all around (ironically he's the complete opposite of Tyler Zeller who actually works hard and doesn't do those things).

It's partially on MD though. If a player does that on your home floor you need to hammer him with a hard foul and send him into the media row to let him know not to do that again. I still remember Michael Snaer doing that to Greivis Vasquez when MD played @ FSU and Vasquez did his little shimmy dance after hitting a shot. Next possession as they are running down the sideline together Snaer body checks him into press row and Vasquez did not shimmy again for the rest of the night :P

Not surprising with Vasquez as he could not keep his emotions in check sometimes. Do agree on the hardfouling. It sends a quick message. I didn't care for Roy Williams response much either--sort of a tepid 'ehhhh.' I hope we have the chance to rub it in to them next time and that we do exactly that.

FSU #1
Duke #2
UNC #3

While our loss was bad yours was much much worse. UNC is now 0-2 vs the teams it's tied with and has the hardest remaining schedule. You came on here to run your mouth too early in the evening ;)

Ironic that UNC and Duke play tomorrow on ESPN for first in the ACC and the regular season championship, and FSU is relegated to third.

You can beat the good teams, but struggle against the mediocre teams... Not looking food for you come tourny time if you are so vulnerable to trap games.

As for UNC the game on Saturday should be a good one and I expect huge numbers from Zellar, he put up 30 on 20 for 23 FT Wednesday night.

Well, we came up short. We were running decently until the exhaustion clearly got the best of us and then it was game over.
