Whats the deal with this?

Will he still host it/run it?

Are there any controls in place to disallow him from working through any loopholes to have access (assuming he is removed from all running of the server)?

well, the server that boxcar is on is TC's. so, other than moving away from that server alltogether, it would be pretty much impossible to remove his access to even the slightest detail.

I heard TurtleCrawler gets paid to host Boxcar too.

maybe your question should be directed at pang then, as the other EE devs have nothing to do with boxcar.

i found that statement to be a bit humorous, or maybe just ironic, given the current attitudes being directed towards LaF.

It was directed at Pang, but a question which I felt deserved public forum, since I'm not the only alliance leader using his service.

and alternate options are quite limited.

I downloaded the Boxcar source and database before we posted the TC is a cheater post, knowing he would be a bad person.

I'm thinking about what to do with it, but obviously, hosting it on TC's server won't be happening :p

I'm sure you will, but please be sure to keep us updated as to whats going on. I'm sure there is a good amount of people who play this game (myself included) who would make a donation in order to move boxcar to a reputable/non-sleazy server in order to save this game that most players love.

Actually it isn't a fact KJ. TC does not get paid to host boxcar.
Pang and TC originally had an arrangement where Pang would pay for certain upgrades to TC's server as "payment" for the service, and Pang did pay for a certain number of upgrades. But that was quite a while ago and I don't know whether TC has seen anything from that arrangement in the recent, or even medium term.

(This post is in no way an attempt to justify inappropriate behaviour that has occurred).

He gets the AD revenue though, what little there is of it.

As long as it's on TC's server assume what you say isn't secure.

No my understanding is that TC does not get the ad revenue at all. The ad revenue is connected to an account that is in Pang's name only.
