Here are a few things. Ants invade your home for a few reasons. First, there is a food source and second when the ground becomes saturated due to large amounts of rain fall. These types of ants, more than likely have found a food source in your home. What you need to do is a good cleaning. If the ants are in your kitchen, clean the floor good with windex or any cleaning solution. Vac floors etc. Keep food off the floors as best as possible. once the food source is gone, the ants will go too. If you have a few bucks, exterminators will help. I for one hate having those types of poisions around my house. Hope this helps. Good luck

I have also had a ant problem in my appartment. Damn small black little fluffers.

Last year I got rid of them with ant poison. Efective until you vacuum the area.

This year I first tried salt... No work
Then I tried cinnamon well that worked... until I again cleaned the appartment.

So next step was to put one of them cola cans on the place where the ants come in. Aint seen no ants inside since.

They prolly at their nest surfing some internet forum and thinking the smartest fluffing ants in the world, while gaining diabeetus from all that sugar. The Queen is watching Oprah on the sofa and popping out babies like the white trash she became. Only thing she ever commans is yo you them worker ants go search for some mc donalds stuff. Dropping a little tear from her eye every time dr. Phill tells someone she can still change.

I had the worst trouble back at my last apartment. Tried several kinds of poison baits, also tried the boric acid method mentioned. While the ants might die and be gone for a few days they were always back in a week or less. Also I couldn't just clean and get rid of them. In that apartment the kitchen counters and the siding along the floor of all the walls they used some type of glue that apparently is crack for ants.

What worked in the end was Ortho Home Defense. Spraying that 2-3 times a year kept things dead and out of my way.

The fact this ant problem thread went to 50+ posts makes me realize, that unfortunately, I'm in the right place.

as martian said. higher concentrations of sodium chloride (table salt for those who didn't pay attention in science classes at school) will cause water to boil at a higher temperature.

We have a massive ant hill developing in some cracks of our garage...

We'll be taking care of it within the week:)

coffee, doesn't matter if its instant or perk. The caffeine kills them and since they take it back to the colony...all gone in just over 24 hours :)

http://www.scotts.ca/...00101&itemId=cat40104 <-- that stuff works awesome. just place it in the path of the ants (like around the ant hill they're coming from) and they're gone in a few days.

I tried digging up the hill, pouring boiling water in it, I'd have tried fire if it wasn't so close to the house :p.. Nothing works better than the Ant-B-gon stuff, You don't even need 1/4 of the 100ml bottle.
